Privacy Policy
# 1.0Overview
Cutline is an image-to-vector tracing app for iPad and iPhone. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data Cutline collects, how it is used, and your choices.
# 2.0Data Collection
Cutline does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All user content (imported images, traced projects, edits, and settings) is stored locally on your device.
2.1What stays on your device
- Images you import or share into Cutline
- Traced projects and every edit you make to them
- Trace settings, pinned colors, and export preferences
- App preferences (panel side, appearance, defaults for new projects)
- Purchase status
2.2Apple services
Cutline uses the following Apple-provided services:
- In-App Purchases (StoreKit): Purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple. Cutline receives only a confirmation of purchase status. We do not have access to your payment information.
- Crash Reports (App Store Connect): If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers through your iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymized, aggregated crash data with us. This data contains no personally identifiable information. You can control this in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Share with App Developers.
- Subject removal (Vision): The "Remove background" feature uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to find a photo's subject. The image is processed entirely on your device and is not sent to any server.
2.3Web image import
When you share an image to Cutline from a web browser, the browser often shares the image's web address rather than the image itself. In that case your device downloads that one image directly from the site hosting it. This request goes only to the site you chose to share from, contains no identifiers beyond a standard image request, and nothing about it is sent to us or to any other service. We have no servers, so there is nothing for the image to pass through. The downloaded image is stored only on your device.
2.4Share extension storage
If you use the share sheet to send an image to Cutline, the image is briefly held in a shared app container on your device until Cutline opens and imports it. It is never transmitted externally.
2.5Data we do NOT collect
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising identifiers
- No location data
- No contacts or calendar access
- No microphone or camera access
- No network requests to third-party services, other than the web image download described in section 2.3. That download goes only to the site you explicitly shared from, and no personal data is ever sent anywhere
- No accounts or sign-ins
# 3.0Data Sharing
Cutline does not share any data with third parties. We have no servers, no databases, and no data pipelines. Files you export leave the app only when you share or save them yourself.
# 4.0Data Storage and Security
All projects are stored as files in your device's local storage. Images imported through the Share Extension pass through a shared app container on your device and are never transmitted externally.
# 5.0Data Deletion
You can delete any project at any time from within the app. Uninstalling Cutline removes your projects, images, and preferences from your device. One small record stays behind: the trial start date and purchase status live in the device Keychain, which Apple preserves across reinstalls. This record contains no personal information, never leaves your device, and exists so the free trial works the same if the app is reinstalled.
# 6.0Children's Privacy
Cutline does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. Since the app collects no personal data from any user, there is no children's data to protect.
# 7.0Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
