A Working Model project

Any picture in. Cut-ready vectors out.

Cutline traces photos, sketches, logos, and paintings into clean vector pieces on iPad and iPhone. Tune the trace live, edit piece by piece, and export SVG your cutting machine understands. The tracing engine runs on your device: no uploads, no accounts, no waiting on a server.

From picture to pieces.

Auto trace does the heavy lifting. Then every piece of the result is yours to recolor, restack, reshape, and cut.

F.01

Six Tracing Styles

Ink drawings, pencil sketches, logos and clip art, AI images, photo subjects, and watercolors. Each style is a tuned starting point, and every setting stays adjustable.

F.02

Live Re-Trace

Drag the Colors, Detail, or Smoothness slider and the whole trace redraws in about a second. No apply button, no preview mode. What you see is the result.

F.03

A Palette That Makes Sense

Cutline picks colors from the image itself. Lowering the count combines similar shades first, so distinct colors survive. Pin a color and it never disappears, no matter how far you simplify.

F.04

Edit Piece by Piece

Tap any piece to select it. Recolor it, hide it, lock it, restack it, merge it with its neighbors, or drag its points and curves until the shape is right.

F.05

Touch-Up Tools

Hand-trace over the faded original like tracing paper. Draw new pieces, place polygons, and erase two ways: instantly, or by painting a mask first so nothing is removed until you apply it.

F.06

Crop, Rotate, Straighten

Crop the source without losing the original, turn the design in 90° steps, and fix a crooked photo with a live straighten slider. Every adjustment survives re-traces.

F.07

Centerline for Pens and Engravers

On the two line-art styles, trace one line down the middle of each stroke instead of an outline around it. That is what a pen, foil quill, engraving tip, or scoring stylus needs. Give one of those an outline and it draws every letter twice, hollow.

F.08

Cut Check

Before you cut, Cutline looks over the exact geometry that will ship, at the size you set, and says what it finds in plain language. Pieces too small for a blade to cut. Hair-thin slivers that tear when you weed them. Islands that fall free because nothing joins them. Duplicate cuts. It reports how many pieces you will actually handle, not how many paths are in the file, and every finding offers a way out.

F.09

Cut Preview

Flip the canvas to what the machine sees: outlines only, no fills, with the cut line if you have one. It is drawn from the export itself, so what you see is what will cut. The fastest way to spot a cut line that has combed into thin fingers through fine detail, which is invisible in the painted view and unweedable on the mat.

F.10

Cut-Ready Export

Pick where the file is going and Cutline sets the format, the profile, and the units together. Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, Glowforge, LightBurn, xTool, and RDWorks each get what they expect. Laser and plotter software reads a fill as engrave and a stroke as cut, so the laser choice writes hairline strokes with no fills, grouped by color. Set the real-world size in inches or millimeters, and add a kiss-cut or die-cut line with the corner style and offset you want.

On Your Device

The tracing engine, the color pipeline, and the subject remover all run locally. Your art never leaves your hands, and the app works the same with no signal at all.
